Hot Wings. Beer. Commercials. Football. ‘Murrica. That’s right, Super Bowl Sunday is right around the corner, and red-blooded Americans everywhere are hitting the beer and grocery stores in preparation for the big party.
It’s hard to pinpoint just when the Super Bowl became such a monumental event, but for years it’s been deemed an un-official holiday of sorts, one that’s celebrated annually without fail. Your team doesn’t even have to be in it for you to enjoy the game (mine hasn’t been in it for almost 20 years. Sad face).
Many watching Sunday night’s showdown between the Ravens and 49ers will be true fans of the game, attempting to catch just one last glimpse of football before the coming spring sends it into hibernation. Others will just be bystanders, gathered to watch commercials, eat, drink and be merry.
Whatever the reason, the Super Bowl is a great time to be with family and friends and enjoy some football. Not that I’m trying to be sentimental here, but sports just seem to bring out the goo in me. So here’s wishing you and yours a safe and happy Super Bowl Sunday. And remember, if you choose to drink, don’t drive.
