I was watching women's tennis the other night, and I couldn't help but be amazed at the sounds coming out of Victoria Azarenka. Every time she hit the ball, she would let out a hoot that could have been mistaken for a Horned Owl in heat.
That got me to thinking. Just why do the women of tennis insist on grunting (or screaming) every time they return a volley? Are they mad? Are they picturing the ball as a cheating ex-boyfriend who needs his head bashed in with a racquet? The guys don't do it, why do the girls?
Well, leave it to the Aussies to get all scientific on this one.
